SPAN organised an orientation program of the newly elected panchayat pradhans and and members of Gorubathan Block of Kalimpong district on their role in ensuring protection of children and in prevention child marriage, child sexual abuse, child labour and child trafficking. The program was organised on 7th December, 2024 at the Gorubathan Block Office in presence of the Block Development Officer, Sabhapati of Gorubathan Panchayat Samiti, Child Welfare Officer from local Police Station, representative from Child Line and Anwesha clinic. A printed guideline on the role of Panchayat in dealing with different child protection issues was developed by SPAN and distributed among the Panchayat Pradhans in this program.
