
Dolaras Marandi, Moti Hembram, Lukhi Murmu and Malti Hembram, four brave girls of Banskendri village in Shikaripara Block of Dumka District. They stopped attending school during mayhem caused due to COVID 19. All of them aged between 11 – 16 years, could not manage to access the online classes due to absence of smart phone and the internet, education department tried while mitigating the disruption. This practically forced them to join local brick Kiln to earn for their families.
SPAN.s field workers reached out to these girls at their village in the month of November, 2022. The members from SPAN realized the importance of getting these girls assembled in group including other such adolescent girls, who for whatever reasons are either out of school or subjected to multiple vulnerabilities. Persistently a series of activities and workshops were organized to help them come out with their real concerns of sufferings. This boosted their confidence in them and derivatively come out of their current situations of despondency. Gradually the things went so definitely that idea of resuming their education appeared a right king of proposal for them to accept immediately.
SPAN took everyone else in the village in confidence to work out diligently to help these girls turn around and get back to their school gracefully.
The local school teachers and Principal of high school joined in this effort and they were willingly not only admitted them, but they assured the everything that were required for these girls to continue their education. They are now ready to take part in Class X board examination this year.
